When we were kids we used to ride our dirt bikes at American Cyanamid in Bound Brook.....they developed all kinds of fertilizers, paints and chemicals. We had a track that we called the tar pits. It was where a lot of there waste was dumped 😂....the ground was actually a dark navy blue to black from all the toxic shit and dust everywhere. After a few laps, we would see dark streaks coming out of our nostrils from breathing all the crap in. It's quite amazing what the human body can withstand but as kids we just didn't understand the dangers....nor did we care. I don't think any of us have been ill or have gotten cancer from it.
Now we did have a cancer cluster near my neighborhood from all the pesticides used to treat the apple orchards which were plentiful in our town. My neighbor's mother died In her early 40's from kidney cancer and there were several other cases of kidney and breast cancer in just a few square miles.
