Deadly US obliteration of Venezuelan drug boat โwill happen again,โ Trump admin ominously warns

WASHINGTON โย Tuesdayโs lethal strike by US forces on Venezuelan narco-terroristsย โwill happen againโ if dangerous cartels keep trying to traffic drugs into America, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday.
โThe United States has long, for many, many years, established intelligence that allow us to interdict and stop drug boats, and we did that and it doesnโt work,โย Rubio, also acting national security adviser, said during a visit to Mexico. โWhat will stop them is when you blow them up, when you get rid of them.โ
โWeโre going to take on drug cartels wherever they are and wherever theyโre operating against the interests of the United States,โ he added.

The Navy killed eleven members of theย Caracas-linked terror groupย Tren de Aragua transporting drugs across the Caribbean Sea, a sharp departure from past policy of having the Coast Guardย use their law enforcement authorities to confiscate contraband and arrest cartel members.
โWeโre not going to allow this kind of activity. Youโre poisoning our people,โ Defense Secretary Peteย Hegseth told โFox & Friends.โ
โWeโve got incredible assets, and they are gathering in the region,โ he added. โAnd so you want to try to traffic drugs, itโs a new day โ itโs a different day โฆ this is an activity the United States is not going to tolerate in our hemisphere.โ
President Trump on Wednesday said he hoped the strikeย would serveย as a deterrent.
โOn the boat, you had massive amounts of drugs,โ the president told reporters in the Oval Office. โWe have tapes of them speaking. It was massive amounts of drugs coming into our country to kill a lot of people and everybody fully understands that. In fact, you see it, you see the bags of drugs all over the boat.
โAnd they were hit. Obviously they wonโt be doing it again, and I think a lot of other people wonโt be doing it again. When they watch that tape, theyโre going to say, โLetโs not do this,โโ Trump went on.
โWe have to protect our country, and weโre going to. Venezuela has been a very bad actor.โ

The military has released few details about the operation, but the Navyย dispatched eight shipsย โ including three guided-missile destroyers โ to the region last month to counter drug smugglers.
Tuesdayโs strike was the first by the military since Trump OKโd the use of military force againstย Latin American drug cartels classified as foreign terrorist organizationsย earlier this year.
Since returning to office in January, Trump has ratcheted up pressure on left-wingย Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro,ย who the US considers to have stolen the past two presidential elections.
โTheyโve been, as you know, theyโve been sending millions of people into our country,โ Trump said Wednesday. โMany of them Tren de Aragua, some of the worst gangs โ some of the worst people anywhere in the world in terms of gangs.โ
Tuesdayโs military action was partially meant to send a message to Maduro, whom Trump has long despised, sources close to the president say.

โThe president understands the clear and present danger posed by narco-terrorists and their enablers,โ one person with knowledge of the situation told The Post. โThe president also doesnโt view this as โregime changeโ because the Venezuelan people already voted for that change.
โHe sees it as using American might to restore safety, security, law and order to the hemisphere.โ

โVenezuela has been very bad, both in terms of drugs and sending some of the worst criminals anywhere in the world into our country,โ Trump said Wednesday. โโฆย Weโre getting them out rapidly,ย but itโs caused a tremendous problem, and Pete and all of the people that are working very hard to rectify the stupidity of the Biden administration allowing these people to pour into our country with open borders.โ
โThink of it: opened-up prisons, drug dealers, drug lords, everything coming out of Venezuela. And we said, โWeโre not going to put up with it anymore,โโ he said. โVenezuela has been one of the worse actors in the whole group, and we have a group of pretty bad actors.โ
