yeah... and Cat's race sleds used to be called Sno Pro's... and look at the Catalyst Sno Pro's, nothing special there right?
so there's that
I always thought 'Racer Replica' was stupid, still do. At lest the TH68 sleds were racer replica's, of an actual racers sled. Same with the old 7C replica sleds.
if people want e-start, the fancy gauge, a testicle warmer and hurt feeling meter and the manufacturer can profit from those items, as an accessory GREAT!!! making them mandatory, no thanks
on fancy or limited edition models like the EXT or new ElTigre... sure, put all the most profitable crap possible on them and charge $20k plus to those who want them.
the RXC consumers can purchase to my knowledge has the same shocks, bracing, brake and 'race' bits as the race department sleds, plus the price premium stuff.
personally I don't need the GPS stuff, as the vast majority of my riding is on trails I know like the back of my hand. speedo/tach on the old SP's is fine, 720 got a temp gauge. the gauge on the 21 RXC, works great... tach/speedo/temp is where it's been kept since it showed up here. 'Z' was bitching in our group text about that the sport gauge on his '25 RXC doesn't have a temp readout recently and apparently the light comes on at 170 degrees... wtf? idk if he added a separate temp gauge as I did yet but holy shit... 170?
to me... RXC, XCR & MXZ (comp) are and should be the consumer sleds that are the most capable and more importantly the most DURABLE for ditch bangers, racer wanna-be's and people who might actually ride them to the sleds true capability. I'd say most of these specific sled types are 'all that' these days.
a somewhat local dealer and I were discussing Lynx sleds a while back, he had a bunch of potato farmers buy them when they came out and they hated them because they were so stiff, and what he basically told me was... so were the XRS's most of them traded in. as you said, they wanted the shiny new thing with the cool stickers and colors... which is what a lot of the things we're discussing actually is.
