They will get a medal and several ribbons plus combat pay. Pretty much all navy ships never spend more than 30 days at sea before pulling into port. The longest was 34 days for my ship when we were in the Mediterranean sea messing around with Libya 85-86 "The Line Of Death. Yes they are away from their home port for more than 9 months but so was I back then. We were on our way out of the Mediterranean sea around the 7 month mark and got turned around to go deal with Libya. Shit happens and its a part of the job you Signed a contract for and to do no one forced you to join the military, you signed that contract of your own free will and put your right hand up and swore to an oath.
