I've owned five huskies..and it was amazing how similar they all were...but with their own spin on things. Specific breeds all have the same base traits I think. Both our Malys, same spitz type, share the husky traits but are much more subdued and calm in their ways....and mind better. Which is basically saying they at least pay attention to your commands. Huskies...they hear you...but they'll decide whats best for them at the moment. smh. Can't do another one of them but still love the breed.
Now our Aussie, he's something different altogether. Obeys on command and can go from zero to 90mph so fast he spins out and his legs become a blur...then can turn on a dime! It's actually kinda scary to watch at first. LOL. Herding breeds I guess. And our three cats hate him for it.
Give it a bit of time, like you said, "prepare" then move on to giving another a good home and good long life. Dogs are therapeutic....and I am weary of any man who doesn't own one.
