Yes you can have no deviation on the chassis from oem in pro stock except for gusseting. Had an issue 3 years ago with skidoo teams removing the steering post support that was plastic and putting in a skidoo optional billet one you could order from the race dept. - ISR said the change was illegal because you were removing a oem component to put a new one on so it didnt constitute as gusseting.
Clutching/shocks are open same with gearing.
Ive seen the cat aluminum ones break due to voids in the casting. usually in the mtn segment things don't typically break like they do in the flat lands due to terrain conditions (3+ ft of powder vs 8 inches of snow with rocks under it)
