Insurance job, people use to have someone take their car so they had and Alibi that they were home at the time. The person or people who took the car would take it to a wooded area and beat the shit out of the vehicle and leave it in the woods or light it on fire and leave it. We use to find vehicles in the woods by my house when we were kids call the cops they would come look at it and then drag the vehicle out of the woods. Ask the cops about the vehicle and they would tell us it was stolen. Most of the time nothing was taken off off the vehicle except sometimes the plates were gone and sometimes they were still on the vehicle so the owner got the insurance money from the "stolen vehicle" ...... Just a guess on my part
