Just went thru this. Brother that never lifted a finger to help for 12 years after my dad passed. I kept up the house for my mom till she finally had to sell and move to assisted living. I took her to doctor's appointments, made sure her bills were paid, and generally anything else she needed. My brother suddenly started visiting once she was out of the house and actually helped me get the house ready for sale, his wife is a realtor and did the sale and I was told she was going to give the commission to my brother and I to split but I got nothing.
I started hiding money knowing he would have his hand out which turned out to be a great idea, I ended up giving him 20 grand and called it a day. My sisted told me to keep the rest because of how much I did, she couldn't help because she lives in NC.
