I think there is a larger problem of under prosecution and under incarceration than too few police in most of the country. Sure we have too many people in prison for non violent drug offenses but we also have too many violent offenders walking the streets. Seems the whole justice system doesn't have much common sense when it comes to who should be incarcerated. Quite common with govt.....no common sense.
One of the biggest differences between the liberal mindset and the conservative mindset is the ability to rehab someone and the difference between rehab and justice. This is not a new phenomenon either. When watching shows on serial killers in CA back in the 70's is mind blowing the ones who committed horrible crimes and were let go because they had been "rehabilitated." Ed Kemper is a prime example. Killed his grandparents and they let him back on the streets. Actually they gave a slap on the wrist to many horrific crimes against children then.
