pre... like 2017'ish ICE stuff is generally better, longer lasting and easier to fix than most of the newer junk. round here, it's the salt that kills shit prematurely. heck, my Tahoe has 181k on it... runs and drives like a champ. salt is killing it. those mother fuckers...
you, I and others here are generally the exception to the repair rule... but trust me, if you saw the shit modern techs have to deal with on new cars/trucks these days you'd understand why it's so hard to find and retain quality techs these days. the vehicles have so much (unecessary imo) tech in them that you have to have as much IT/Electrical experience as you do Mechanical experience to diagnose and repair modern junk. I know other's here can confirm this...
my snowblower.... still gas, always will be. I am looking at replacing my vintage 1996 Toro push mower with a Milwaukee self propelled electric though, just like the way I went from years of owning Stihl weed whackers to a Milwaukee which has been quite excellent. Uncertain about the leaf blower but I'm keeping that noisy old lady running as long as possible.
cars/trucks are tools... except for the toy cars/trucks, will always have a gasser there.
