Sled racing will be dried up and dead within 10 years. No one is running out to buy $16,000+ sleds to race on ice. Volunteers have better things to do then wake up early on Saturday to stand around, freezing their asses off all day on a frozen, windy lake to watch a handful of factory connected racers win every time.
Itโs not the 70โs, 80โs or 90โs anymore. There are so many other things available to do compared to back then. Plus the sleds are too complicated for the average, casual, grass roots racer to work on. Having to have connections to Hetteen and Polaris to get the latest flash is a pain in the ass. Back in the day anyone could jet their own sled so itโd run properly. Back in the 70โs - 90โs you went to the dealer and ordered or bought your consumer race sled right off the floor. Now itโs applications and spending cash up front without even knowing what you are getting come fall. Itโs a broken system with less and less interest year after year.
