On the day of the collision, Wilson was seen speeding and drifting out of his lane.
Evidence was that he was driving about 90 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, right on the edge of an 80 km/h zone and, when his Dodge Ram smashed into the Beverly sub-compact Mitsubishi, there was no evidence of braking.
While police were told Wilson had been drinking, and there were cans of open and unopened beer scattered around the driver’s seat, officers at the scene said they saw no indications he was impaired and didn’t smell alcohol on his breath.
