We don't have convenient markets for the electricity and minerals that even make sense let alone could be done quickly.
Any excise taxes on minerals, oil, electricity. etc will hurt us as much or more than it would you, just like the tariffs the mango meathead puts on your buying power.
If Washington and Ottawa were wiped off the earth the average IQ would go up 10 points in North America.
I just keep plugging away on insulating myself from the stupidity of the last 10 or so years, for both our countries.
