They’re up to 70% lighter than lead acid and will last well over 10 years. Very costly because of the internals needed for the sudden, high current loads of a starter battery over the most typical 12v lifepo4 batteries used for marine, RV’s and trolling motors. The nice thing about lifepo4 is the current delivery curve is virtually flat from 13.6 down to 10.5v where it shuts off. The real Achilles heal is it can’t be charged below 32 degrees without sustaining damage. They get around this by installing built in heaters that divert some charge voltage from the alternator upon start up to quickly bring the battery temp up to safely charge it.
