Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) on Tuesday accused President Trump of being a “draft-dodging crook president” during a town hall with Georgia voters.
“I don’t think anything illustrates the times more aptly than the draft-dodging crook president, who has plunged our nation recklessly into a war he knows not how to end or to win, tried to imprison this man,” Ossoff said, referring to Trump’s threat against Kelly and five other lawmakers last year to imprison them for urging service members to ignore “unlawful orders,” accusing the lawmakers’ message of being “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!!”
Ossoff tore into Trump during a rally in Atlanta on Sunday, when he said “there’s something uniquely despicable about lying a nation into war, treating citizens as fools and those who serve as pawns.”
He also mocked Trump for bringing White House executive assistant Natalie Harp on an Air Force plane while departing a NATO summit in Turkey last month amid a plane switch. Trump said before leaving that he was boarding an older Air Force One instead of his new Qatari-gifted jet, in response to a possible Iranian threat.
Ossoff said that instead of serving as president, Trump “wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar.” He later told MS NOW’s Jen Psaki that he “heard this particular aide referred to as his security blanket.”
