I had a place in the country. Bunch of acres. Built it in my early 30’s and was done with it in my late 50’s. it was a fucking ball and chain. Always something to dig up, fix, or mow. Sold it at the beginning of the boom and eventually got a place in town with a good size garage and low maintenance yard and structure. Quiet neighborhood with a bunch of good neighbors. I live there 3-4 months out of the year. November and December I spent in Arizona. January and February at Rutherford and Holly Beach in Louisiana. May, June, and July it’s Colorado, Montana, Oregon, and then BC. Where ever I am is my back yard.
I like the convenience and practicality of a small town. I’ve got some land in Utah that I’m establishing an off grid set up. Sort of dragging my feet getting it set up. It’s arid land that butts up against BLM land. Low maintainence. I’m not sure if I want to invest the effort.
