It's not easy to see at all on my cars except perhaps the Caddy V. I swapped them out based on a visual but after I got them off, I realized I probably could have gotten another 20,000 mi out of them. The Vipers forget about it, pads are completely hidden by the calipers. And unless I'm crawling around with a flashlight and a mirror, the Escalade is also tough to see.... that's why I noticed it with the wheels pulled. So no it's not REALLY easy to see.
And many cars do have monitors that let you know when pad thickness is minimal including yours I would imagine.
