To be fair, 16-19 and 21-22 you could only buy the RXC via the race program. Not sure why Polaris felt the need to make a plug fouling 650, but it is what it is. Would be nice if they'd sell them via the dealers.
2014 sleds and before were all kitted race sleds. You'd either kit out an Doo RS, kit out a IQR, or buy the pre-kitted R Cross Country. And Yamaha had a kit of some sort they'd send you for the Viper RTX.
Production rule came about for MY2015 due to the work of Pat and later Brian pushing for more production based sleds in stock classes.
XC isn't headed down the same road with specialized sleds. For Cat and Doo, and for a while all 4 were sleds you could buy at your dealer, dump 91 in, throw some studs and a windshield on and go racing.
You can walk in to any Cat or Doo dealer and order the same sled the XC racers get. Polaris is the only one you can't right now.
