According to police, he tried to get in the front doors but was confronted by two bystanders.
He then ran around the back, shot through the security locks with a gun his mother purchased, and went straight to his former Special Ed classroom.
That's where John m*rdered three little kids and a teacher.
According to law enforcement sources, John first tried the front doors but was blocked.
After that confrontation, John ran to the back of the building and fired through the window panes and security locks on a door to force his way inside.
He went directly into the special-needs room - where he had once been a student - and opened fire, shooting 15 times.
He shot everyone in the room and was in a physical struggle with a teacher when the armed bystander walked in and k*lled him.
The three children who were k*lled were 5, 8, and 11.
The 5-year-old was identified by family as Rhoam Summer.
A 7-year-old child in a wheelchair (shot in the face) and a 54-year-old teacher were critically injured and taken to St. Charles Medical Center.
Officers got there about three minutes after the first call; the shooter was already dead inside.

The weapon was a Maverick 88 12-gauge pump-action shotgun legally purchased by John's mother, Shauntai May Nickerson, around the time of his August birthday.
Nickerson has been cooperative with investigators; she was seen outside her home Friday expressing grief and saying she was sorry, that her son was “a good boy,” and that she would have prevented it if she could. Investigators seized electronic devices.
John lived nearby in the Old Farm District and had previously attended the school, including participation in the High Desert Education Service District and Bend-La Pine NEST program for students with intensive behavioral and social skill challenges around 2020.
The hero who stopped the attack is Kaylub Giamanco, 36, a Bend carpenter and lifelong resident who is the father of two daughters at Silver Rail.

His brother and mother confirmed his identity.
Family members said he heard the gunshots while driving home for lunch, saw the gunman enter, followed him in and used his concealed-carry weapon to end the rampage.
His family released a statement saying he is not seeking recognition and asking for privacy while thanking first responders, school staff, and the community.
President Donald Trump called him a “great hero” who “took care of business,” adding “thank God we had him, otherwise it would have been much worse.”
