Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer was quick to respond on social media Friday, writing, “I agree with POTUS that several media outlets covering the WH are biased and unfair.”
“Banning them from the WH is not the solution. Open the pool and the briefing room to conservatives. Challenge liberal reporters. Argue and defeat them,” he stated. “Don’t ban them. Or one day they’ll ban us.”
Fox News’s chief political analyst Brit Hume also wrote on social media that he “100%” agreed with a post from Jonathan Turley, a George Washington University Law School professor.
Turley called Trump’s move “terrible precedent and practice” that “would raise serious constitutional questions and undermine the country’s long-standing position as a voice for the free press.”
Hume added that if Trump “thinks this will lead to more favorable coverage, I think he’s dreaming.”
Later Friday evening, Fox News Anchor Jacqui Heinrich, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA), wrote, “The Constitution protects the freedom of the press from government interference.”
