My statement stands.....as does my point. The fact Russia (or anyone else in the west with a far superior budget on education) can match and top student achievement speaks to the quality of education being administered.
Point, as proved by PISA, USA continues to drop in education in the world rankings.
The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS)—which focuses heavily on core curriculum mastery—consistently shows Russian students scoring significantly higher than American students.
Math: In the latest TIMSS eighth-grade assessments, Russian students outperformed their U.S. peers by an average of 30 points.
Science: Russian eighth-graders outscored American students by an average of 17 points.
And it's not "the south" dragging test scores down. It's minorities in the south. And now, AL is scoring better than both CA and NY. So, that's a statement.
