Despite the fact that I don't think the government should have any ownership in those companies, something needs to be done since the chinese government has spent hundred of billions, and turned thousands of square miles into toxic wasteland, in order to dump well below the cost of production, to put US and European companies out of business.
BTW the US government gave china a tour of our REE facilities when we were one of the dominate players in the world market, and the US government even played role in forcing it to shut down.
Seems like there are 2 or 3 shitty choices.. Do nothing. Give them money (grants),Give them loans, Invest in them.
