Donโt worry about the color of an oil in a diesel. Or the turbos. Thatโs soot and carbon. The detergent package in a good diesel oil will suspend combustion byproducts. As far as coking in the turbos, the turbos in a diesel run about 500 degrees cooler than gas so thatโs rarely an issue. Diesel fuel is also an excellent lubricant. So cylinder walls, pistons, and piston rings enjoy the lubricity of oil and the fuel in a diesel. Even if some gets down into the oil on a lot of cold start ups, it still combines with the oil for lubrication. Gasoline on the other hand strips oil film from cylinders and diluted oil with gas breaks it down and thins it. For severe use maybe change the oil every 7500 miles. Otherwise 10k is fine. I believe in used oil analysis. Itโs the only true way to determine appropriate oil change intervals.
