Some communities allow you to install a separate water meter for your lawn sprinklers and hose bibs, it has to be tied in after your primary water meter and inspected so depending on how much you plan on water your lawn, the size of your lawn etc it may be worth the added cost. Around here if you are connected to public water supply your sewage bill is based off of your water bill, I think the water company currently charges somewhere around $1.65 per 100 gallons of water registered on you water meter. Any water that goes thru the meter you are charged for by the water company and the sewer authority so a running toilet, dripping faucet, leaving a hose running on the ground, or filling or topping off a swimming pool all add up plus you pay sewage bill for that water usage. Many years ago water company use to read your water meter before you filled your pool and reread the meter after and the sewer authority would allow you to deduct that water from your sewage bill because the meter was read by the water company, not anymore. People complain about their water bill ($1.65 per 100 gallons) but don't complain or think twice about paying over $1.00 for a bottle of water........
