ya know what changed in the keeping up with the Joneses race to nowhere in this country... dual income + disposable income families.
the difference between the way my wife and I compared to the way our daughter was raised and what we did/have compared to what she's had is vast. not that I'd change any of it...
when we built our home in 2005 the builder (a high end one) was pushing for more square footage initially... I held firm on 1792sq (main and upper not including the walkout basement) and went upscale on all the fit and finish. now, two decades later... it's more house than we (wife and I) need being realistic. this said, at some point I've got a couple additions in mind ... one being more garage space for me, the other a sun room with a hot tub / excercise room below it for the wife.
