Red Tek mixed with R134A can create sludge and damage the compressor. A lot of shops won’t service a system using red tek because it’s highly flammable and can damage their equipment. You rarely need to add oil to a system. That’s usually only required with a new compressor and/or a full sweep of the system is done. And if you do install a new compressor it’s important to determine if the compressor has been precharged with oil. Too much oil will cause problems with sludging, inconsistent TXV operation, and compressor damage.
