  1. I've been a Cat guy my whole life. Started on a hand-me-down 1972 Kitty Cat. Nothing but Cats and they've been top notch all the way to my last new sled in the form of my 2017 XF 9000. Then Textron bought them and I took a wait-and-see approach....I don't consider myself naive, but I think I was one of many who thought Textron might just have the cash infusion from a diversified portfolio that could invigorate the brand. Instead we watched as the mostly stellar Procross chassis aged gracefully but VERY rapidly, athletes left in droves (along with their wins and followers), the marketing department vaporized (you get more info from Country Cat or Arcticinsider), and Textron seemingly gutted the factory of the passionate individuals in favor of corporate transplants that know NOTHING about snowmobile culture. Cat isn't Cat anymore, and since Textron's purchase they've given basically not a single reason to stay.

  2. I didn’t see a reason anywhere on arctic insider so I’d love to hear it. Let me guess, too many people were asking for it to come back and Cats not in the business of doing anything buyers want?

  5. i work for a gmc dealer. we were told of a "bad batch" of lifters. we changed many. we always do all on the bank in question. i had some bending pushrods at 500 miles. then they run out of fuel lines and it prolongs the process. it no longer uses a "vlom" , the manifold that controls the lifters. each cylinder has it's own now. but the bad news is that they now have active lifters in all 16 holes. doubles the chance for failure. as a dealer we have power to repair things as we see fit. sometimes yes, gm will not pay. hard for me to change the side without issues. the ones we have fixed have been fine for a while. 36 years in gm dealers and driving a tundra...

  7. Would you want a used CTEC 800 off warranty? Working in manufacturing, I would never, ever, let one of my distributors be the one communicating production updates to the public.

  9. Unless they offer something to pull in new customers, they will die. There is NOTHING that will pull in new customers. The ThunderCat and the Blast are niche products, and not mainstream enough to turn that organization around. Buying a Cat now would be nuts. You are buying a dead end product. Either from the standpoint of it being obsolete, or in terms of them no longer being a viable snowmobile manufacturer. This was precisely the reason that I jumped ship a year ago. I'm sorry- only a fool would buy a '23 Procross...... BAD investment (not that ANY toys are a good investment)....

  13. Textron should have given the Cat faithful some something to work with this year beside new stickers. How about a new instrument cluster or are they sucking the life out of Cat like they did with Polaris. The old days of Cat were awesome and I hated the idea of Textron buying Cat. Anyone miss the days of the real Thunder Cat's and big and little ZRT's the old Wildcats and ELT 6000 and 5000 and no EPA to fuck with the motors. What would it be like with these old motors in the new chassis hell you can include Doo and Polaris and Yamaha also. My hope for Cat is someone buys them out from under Textron.

  20. Add me to the list of washed up, former Arctic Cat riders. With the lack of market share, leadership, and brain power in TRF, they will just get further and further behind. I don't hate the Procross chassis but I'm not buying another one either. Maybe I'll take another look at Cat when they release something new.

  25. I'll second that, Jimmy. My only real complaint with my XCR is its too damn soft for my fat ass! I plan on stiffening the valving and spring rates over the summer, might even go on a diet....nah fuck that, beer tastes way too good!

  27. Ha, I ate at the pickled loon on Saturday. We rode basically all the trails there putting in nearly 500mi in 2 days + Friday night. Other than needing scratchers I was surprised at how well groomed things were and also how rough all the ditches were that were not on the grooming list.

  28. I still think if we sent the Migs ....Ukraine would have prevailed by now. Weakness on Bidens part as usual and canceling our usual missile testing last week for fear of upsetting Putin= more weakness and cowering. He is only escalating the war by showing his fear of Putin. There ain't no red lines....Putin has free reign to do whatever he wants with no pushback.

  31. And tell us why he didn't want to raise interest rates last meeting when Biden was in charge. Some of you guys are assigning positions reading into things I haven't said. *looks at Ben and Anler, the self regarded geopoliticial and economics experts* I'll leave it at this, there is a fuck ton more reasons for inflation than "Trumps" budget, which both houses of Congress passed under a Democratic majority. Trump wanted to reform the tax code to incentivize investment, put more $ into the middle class's pocket and repatriate money that was offshored. It worked. Then a pandemic conveniently appeared and shut the economy down cold, which required massive government intervention. Add in all the major major supply chain issues, not enough goods to supply the demand, Thats the tip of the iceberg and some of the multiple reasons as to why inflation is out of control right now. Dipshits. Complete devoid of thought dipshits.

  36. If I were to buy another 4 stroke turbo I would absolutely order it with power steering, so to me it makes sense to be standard. I run aftermarket skis and while it's very manageable, power steering would definitely reduce fatigue on those 200-300 mile days. But I'm not buying another Procross or a first year unit, so I'm 2 years away from buying another Cat at minimum. My closest dealer just dropped Cat this year as well. It legitimately feels like Cat/Textron is intentionally alienating loyal customers.
