Popular Post smokin george
I'm going thru that issue at the moment. I'm on some heavy medication and get an injection every 3 months and went thru 20 radiation treatments which has knocked the crap out of me. On the bright side the PSA level went down and the care I'm getting from the specialists is top notch. I'm getting a TURP procedure done next month on the prostate and go from there. Get your tests done fellas!

Platinum Contributing Member steve from amherst Posted July 30, 2023 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted July 30, 2023 Round here they are not testing as much as they used to. Although prostate cancer can kill you, many more will get it and have it for 30 yrs till they finally die of a heart attack

Most do not die from it.

One type is slow and they just monitor your PSA. Another is aggressive and your PSA will jump fast.

DriftBusta
Sorry to hear that George, stay positive. Docs told me it’s a slow growing cancer so hopefully they got it early, and life goes on. I get tested every physical.

The side effects from the medication and radiation are knocking the heck out of me but I'm coping.

I'm 73 and was diagnosed with lymphoma 8 years ago and have been in remission since thanks to a daily “chemo” maintenance drug. I see my oncologist every 3 months for extensive blood work yet I have to remind them every year to run a PSA test. Wouldn’t you think that they would consider this something of a priority? Good luck with your cancer treatments George, I have 4 friends that have successfully beat prostate cancer, you will also. 5
Mainecat
Kick ass man. Treatments have come a long way. Everyone out there get a check up and full blood urine tests at least every year.
spin_dry
My brother in law was diagnosed at 72. Surgery and radiation. He turns 81 or 82 this year. Best of luck to you, George.Sounds like you're on the right path. I couldn't get in to see my doctor during "20 because of COVID shut downs. I did one of the do it yourself blood tests. My PSA was 4 times normal. Turned out to be a glitch in the test. I'm not a big fan of home testing despite what insurance companies push. Yeah...the Dr. I spoke too said the tests are not very accurate for the prostate, pretty much talked me out of it. I'm pretty bad about seeing Dr's.....still have never gotten a colonoscopy. It's on my bucket list but keep putting it off. I'm pretty sure I have an enlarged prostate, which is normal for aging. I was pissing several times a night and also having trouble emptying bladder completely. I tried this stuff you can only get online "Prosatadine"....I got a 3 month supply and wasn't expecting much but it has made a world of difference....just ordered another 9 bottles last night. A little pricey but now I can sleep til around 5a.m.without getting up once and no more urgency to piss when I really don't have too. I swear by it. Good luck to you George 🤞....this sounds very beatable...colon cancer not soo much. Carlos Danger
My Dad had prostate cancer when he was 75 and he just passed two years ago at age 95.
favoritos
@smokin george, I'm glad it was caught in time and treatable. I've watched my FIL and grandfather go through untreatable prostrate cancer. It is long and painful from everything I've seen. Very hard to watch what happened to them. This disease runs on my dad's side. Three uncles and my dad have all been caught early and treated. I think it's been over ten years already for each one. That is at least encouraging. My brothers and I don't mess around with this disease. We make sure that we are current on testing. We even question each other to make sure nobody skips.

I was thinking the other day that I should make an appointment and get the tests done. My doc is getting older and will likely retire soon. I'm probably due for a colonoscopy too, great...lol

Lost a co-worker to it @ 57. https://getprostadine.com/?hop=julius8 Age just kinda sssssucks. i do a PSA test every 6 mo since my level is high for my age,, so they tell me. 4.15 last test. the treating of this type of cancer in men unfortunately slowly drains a man since its treated with estrogen.. my dad dealt with it for twenty years. thats the one thing he constantly complained about was the estrogen sapping his strength. A buddy that dates a nurse from a dana farber cancer center told me about that stuff. she had mentioned it to him so we both have been taking it. im having great results ! a mmmuch stronger stream and emptying is ffffar easyer/ more complete. the taste sure is tough to swallow but so far im sold 100% Ive been on flowmax/ tamsalosin for about four years now and it does help,
