Close...very cold. When you have to do the stoppage drill on the AR 15, aka the C7, pull the gloves off, dislodge a bad round and get it shooting again, your fingers freeze in about a half second. The aluminum rifle was so cold, just touching it froze your fingers. I've tried every glove, mitt, heat pack, you are still fucked. Riding in that environment, it's dark when you start out, it's dark when you stop after a couple hundred miles, is just brutal. Not that the sun does much heating. There is no shack to warm up, no way to heat your hands or body, other than grab the engine or exhaust. You are shivering from start to finish in the best gear there is. Set up one night in the tents, -45. I thought it better to set up in the small dips amongst the rocks, out of the wind. Nope, the locals said set up on the sea ice. Get out the saws and build a snow block wall, or igloo around the tent. The ice is a constant temperature, the ground is way colder. You want to pack it in for the day, literally, but a couple more hours making the snow walls and blocks around the tent works awesome. Wake up to 5C not -45C Smart fuckers, but they do live there lol.

Actually and honestly, I'd have to say that "shot" deal is pretty good and while I'm not a deep pow guy, everything about the Alpha frame rail and track system makes sense to me. Wait.....this is a decade? Oh, then PC frame for sure. The toughest, winning-est design ever. Doo get's the R-motion rear skid design win. Poo get's something too. I mean....LOOK AT THIS!!! Well I feel perfectly fine today except for a sore throat and stuffy nose. But my mom sent over a big ass chunk of her breakfast casserole and my cousin dropped off some weed cookies. I'm gonna get fat & get ripped and I might even drink some bourbon. Plus the old man got me a sextant for Christmas so I'll probably be watching some YouTube videos to refresh my skills on that. Just a FYI, My trail sled has electric start, but the battery is dead. Has been for a couple years. The dead battery is still in the sled. Oh noes.... My mtn sleds get some unnecessary stuff removed to save weight. Oh noes.... I feel like I need that meme with the 2 red buttons no knowing which to push...lol

Years ago, was at the Fleet Farm picking up Snow Studs stuff on clearance and some inbred redneck (and his posse) was there getting another belt for his F7, bitching about how he wrecks a belt every time he rides it. He was buying the $50 or $60 Dayco HP belt instead of the $100 or so HPX belt that F7's need. I told him that he needs the HPX instead of the HP and why. You'd of thought he was looking at an alien and told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I opened up the Dayco reference thing there and pointed it out, then one of his friends told me I know nothing about sleds and they left. It blows me away how many people have 0 pride in their toys. We just drug this $10k used sled home and we'll let it sit between the house and the pine tree year round. This is yet another prime example. Then they wonder why their shit is broken down on the side of the trail first ride of the year.

Do you guys also reach in and clear out your skid so there's zero snow in it whenever you stop along side the trail and burn your doobage? I mean, weight is weight - so you better be doing that. Exercise Polar Warrior, aka exercise freeze your balls off. Rankin inlet. Flew the sleds in. Flew in on a C-130, out on the C-17 Used to do exercises in Northern Ontario, then the Ruskies moved in on the Arctic, now they are in the far North. It's fucking cold up there, like -50 during the day. When someone in my riding party complains about the cold, I just laugh and call them pussies. 4 stroke Vikings and Ventures get started every hour, to be sure they can run. The cats were pull start 550's, two strokes. I wish they'd had a transmission because the load they had to pull was too much for a one speed gear box.
