Platinum Contributing Member Jimmy Snacks Posted August 28, 2023 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted August 28, 2023 The winter of 1976 and Skiroule. While Arctic Cat had built possibly the the greatest leaf spring race sleds of the leaf spring era, dominating SnoPro that season, Gilles Villeneuve had built a handful of trailing arm IFS Skiroule race sleds powered by Kohler liquid cooled engines. Those same Kohler engines with porting and exhaust tweaks powered the 76 Twister to glory in stock and mod stock. The IFS Skiroules were more competitive than the Kohler powered Merc Snopro sleds. When the 76 Snopro teams arrived in Bangor Maine the green Skiroules embarrased them. Their first meeting with the Villeneuve IFS sleds opened some eyes. Yes Chaparral and Gordon Rudolph had brought IFS to the oval years before but theae machines were different. They won and stayed together. At Beausejour the writing was on the wall. IFS had to be investigated. Skidoo, Polaris and Kawasaki all took the Skiroules seriously and built 77 IFS racers. What has always seemed strange to me was why these sleds were not purchased by another race team and used during the 77 SnoPro season? They would have won some races for sure. Anyone know why they sat in limbo in 77?
Doug
There's also a rumor that when Kawasaki got out of the snowmobile business that they took that years race sleds and crushed and buried them by there R & D center. There have been people that have actually gone and tried to find them. https://vintagesleds.com/library/features/shark-hunting/ Edited August 28, 2023 by Doug

Platinum Contributing Member Jimmy Snacks Posted August 31, 2023 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted August 31, 2023 Not my grandpa…but love this anyhow.🌞🇺🇸 Grandpa ❤️ He & my grandmother started my family farm in 1951. It sure is a blessing to watch him continue doing what he loves, in 2023. Harvesting 🌽 Corn: Chopping the entire stalk of corn into tiny bits & pieces, to be stored & fed to cows all year long. Farmers get 1 window, 1 chance to get crops in on time & of high quality. It's a busy & stressful time. If you find yourself behind slow moving farm equipment, take a moment to remember they're just trying to feed your family & theirs. #Harvest2023 #corn #cows #grandparents #grandpa #blessed #family #farm
