This buck is becoming a regular at the backyard feeder. He comes pretty much every night.

Thats a buddy of mine and myself checking the feeder and the field around 8:30.

He came to eat about an hour later. I walked from my house to my shop and he and I were eye to eye about 80 feet apart. That’s him staring at me in the second pick.He took off after a minute or so.

He came back to finish dinner at midnight in the fog. He was here for 20 minutes. He ate everything I had on the ground. He ate a bit from the feeder but he doesn’t like to. I buddy says the deer don’t like to eat with there head inside something. They prefer to eat off the ground as it gives them better peripheral vision. Guess he is right.

Strange, the does never come to eat here any more. I see them out in the field but the don’t come to the feeder.

Do bucks control the eating areas of the herd?

I’m think about trying to collect his sheds. Anyone ever set up a shed fence?

If you ever went deer hunting over a bait pile when the big bucks come in every other deer scrambles.

I assumed when he was around the rest would stay away but when he’s not I thought they be all over it like last year.

Actually, last night was the first time for another deer to be at the feeder. These 2 came together and stayed fir an hour and a half.

Very true, back in 1992 I was bowhunting over bait and one evening I had 13 deer come to the bait and it was at 3:00 in the afternoon. I was like holy shit, there's plenty of daylight left so I decided to wait and see if the monarch shows up. Sure enough, about 15 minutes later I hear leaves crunching behind me and when I finally saw him I damn near vapor locked, huge 10 point. When he got to the bait pile it was like Moses parting the Red Sea, every other deer scattered around the perimeter and watched the king eat. I let an arrow fly and missed him low (buck fever was a factor :lmao:) and the woods exploded with deer running everywhere. I still get pissed at myself for whiffing on that deer. I've had roughly 6 chances in my life at big bucks and I have yet to seal the deal, I think I'm cursed or I have to get my buck fever under control. :lmao:

Kudo’s for admitting it.  I’m sure a few guys on here might embellish the story a little differently

The deer are getting braver. This doe was at the feeder before sundown so I got a colour pic.

And we have a new boss in town. He ate for 1 1/2 hours and kept the others at a distance.

Not much here either....lost a bunch yesterday with 2 days of unseasonably warm weather.  No sizeable dumps in the forecast either.
