  5. My buddy's Facebook post from this weekend ... a little long, but a really good read!! 40 years ago a young man had to make a decision. He had just got laid off from Clevite (Federal-Mogul), he was having a baby boy, and getting married. Everything non essential had to go which included a 1979 Polaris TX 340 he bought new. He made up a flyer with a picture taped to it and stuck in on the bulletin board at the factory. A family friend by the name of Tom H. saw it and a deal was struck. The snowmobile had a new owner, that baby was born and time went on. Ironically enough my first ride on a snowmobile was in the winter of 1994 with Tom at the controls of his 94 XLT on Lake Pepin down at the Ice Drag races. I remember everything about that day. The thrill of conversing over snow and ice on a machine just blew me away. That’s also the day I watched the Budweiser Sno-King driven by Paul Groth make a few runs. The sound of that engine and ice chunks flying around is something that sticks with me to this day. In November 1997 Tom sold the 79 TX. When he sold the machine it was still immaculate and in great shape (despite his son Mike riding it!!). That was pretty much the end of the story as someone from the metro came down and bought it and nobody ever expected (or cared) to really see it again. Growing up I always looked at my dad’s old photo album with all his cars, trucks, and this one snowmobile he had bought. I often asked him questions about it and came to find out he crashed it the first day he owned it. He went to Smittys Marine and got a new belly pan, bumper, and hood. Problem was they didn’t have any 79 hoods available so he got a 78. Not a big deal and not noticeable to most but the paint was just a little different. Well that was the little piece to my puzzle I needed to start looking for this thing. He also had a local art teacher (Norton) do some registration numbers and pinstripes on it. I started getting into vintage sleds about 20 years ago and vintage Polaris sleds to be exact. I loved the 79s. The colors and designs were just so intriguing to me. I bought a very nice 79 TX from Chicago and figured that’s the closest I’d ever get to the one dad had. I always looked tho, I always compared every 79 I saw for sale to his old one. Like I said it had a one off hood and paint job so for me it was an easy “nope that’s not it” every time I ran across one. About a month ago after finally getting the kids to bed I was doing my usual auction and marketplace surfing. I always type in vintage Polaris or Polaris TX. A listing popped up that said “just listed”. It was a 1979 Polaris TX in Elk River that looked pretty roached out but I still did the usual investigation. I’ll be damned if it didn’t have a 78 hood on it! It also had registration numbers on the side that looked familiar. I had that same photo album from my dad up in my shop which is 300 feet up the hill from my house. It was pouring rain, 10pm on a Monday night but I took off running up the hill. I opened the album and matched up the pictures to the marketplace listing. There it was. I found it. I seriously found it. I contacted the owner and a deal was struck. The next Saturday morning dad came out to my house and we headed to Elk River. Told him we were going to look at a old Polaris that needed some work. When we got there the snowmobile was sitting in the front yard where it had been for what looked like every single day since November 1997. Along with the sled he had tractors and bulldozers sitting all over so my dad’s eyes were everywhere. He wandered back to the TX and stared at it for a bit. I pointed out the 78 hood and he agreed. Then he said “those registration numbers look familiar”. I pulled out the picture from my pocket of his sled and it matched perfectly. “You found it!” Yes dad I finally found it. The sled you sold 40 years ago because of me is finally coming home. Even though we have 2 other snowmobiles currently being restored this one jumped to the front and will hopefully be done in a few months. It’s been a fun project so far and about every 20 minutes we look at each other and say “I can’t believe we found it”. My plan was to wait until Fathers Day to show it to him but I knew he had to be there when we pulled it from the dirt. Happy Father’s Day!

Parade - thanks to the men and women who have given their time to serve and protect. Kings - I don’t see a king around here, figuratively or otherwise. None of the protests invaded my space or got in my way. Glad they wasted their weekends on something stupid.

  10. I was drunk internet shopping and found this guy for a deal. Has the tv screen in it and a built in plug for a tender to run it off the house.
  11. much of it hand-picked by immigrants in the U.S. illegally. MC , you dont see a problem with this? And when they do all they will do is bitch. Instead of demanding their house member and senators fix an immigration system that has been broken for 45 yrs
  12. Never seen so many people get butthurt by parades and flags before. What a bunch of thin skinned effeminate types

  20. I know of plenty of farms that go thru the proper channels to hire foreign farm workers. Are California farms incapable of this or do they hire undocumented so they can pay shit wages, avoid FICA taxes and other requirements like housing? I love how this is Trump's fault yet NOBODY seems to want to look at the business'. 90-95% of H2A visa applications are accepted. H-2A worker housing requirements mandate that employers provide free, safe, and sanitary housing for H-2A workers and those in corresponding employment who cannot reasonably return home each day. This housing must meet specific standards for space, sanitation, safety, and amenities.

  23. No china stuff here. 100% USA. Design cast machined all in Ohio. Really nice parts.
  24. Ever heard of the Blue Ribbon Coalition? I'm a donating member.....go ask them which party closes access to OHV more. So typical of the likes of you and MC....spewing bullshit without links or knowledge of what actually is going. https://blueribboncoalition.org/
  25. Dude .. you're just as bad, on the opposite side of it. Wake the fuck up and recognize it instead of being a dick bag and constantly criticizing others. Two weeks to two days ... WGAF? Maybe it's the element of surprise, or seeing signs of Iran doing shit (moving) and taking action.
  26. Fuck Jimmy Kimmel - and duh, immigrants are fine, when they enter legally.

  29. There should be a maximum age cutoff for the president just like the minimum age requirement IMO. Look at how much Biden deteriorated during his term. Im not sure what that age should be but 75 plus is pushing it IMO.
  30. Here's the last attention you'll get for this thread .... attention whore. I don't waste my time on worthless videos, unlike you. And I sure as fuck ain't gonna waste time on something John Stewart related. Have a nice day, douche!

Thank goodness Trump wasn't born on December 25th ... you pussies would have a complete melt down.
  33. He was clearly going after democratic lawmakers, but regardless, which "side" he's from shouldn't be what's most important. Unfortunately, our divisive politics these days will only push more borderline psychotics to do this. When you're constantly told the other side is evil, what do you expect.
  34. Got this old Stihl 031 AV back up to snuff! Been having a running out of gas kind of issue the last few times I used it, and figured yesterday was a good day to tear into it… yeah, she was a little dirty!! FFS - probably been 20+ years since it was apart. But I can claim success on this one!

How about that spic liberals were crying to have returned from El Salvador. Returned and now facing federal charges. Damn this shit is funny.
  41. The best scenario to be talked about last night was finding a way to impeach Trump and get him the F out & hand it over to Vance. I know I'd be perfectly fine with that (even if it won't happen). Kind of off topic, but that's just another day in the life here
  42. Trump clearly hasn't learned how to STFU since his first term. He's a 10 year old spoiled brat
