I went from an open to a dble enclosed then to a v-nose enclosed then back to an open. I can for the most part just go out the driveway to the trail 1/2 a block away. If I have to trailer it'll be with a bedsheet on first then the full travel cover on the sled.

Maybe this sounds entitled but I will never haul my stuff in an open trailer.  Box of truck with cover or enclosed as I've seen plenty of salty sleds after a few years.

Yet you will ride it down the roads and crossings getting salt on it then go park it in the trailer frozen with ice and salt and sand all over it. :snack:

Most roads aren't salted mostly sand.  Except the odd hwy 11 crossing :news:

Yep great for bearings when you dont wash the skid out all winter and let it fester in a cold trailer all winter. :justcuz:

Rather cold than a warm garage to activate the salt. 🙃

I’m with ya on that.  I’ve done it and it’s fine when the roads are dry but, any hint of shit on the roads and what a god damn mess.  No thanks.

I've had zero issues and have never had an enclosed trailer. My trailer does have a slush guard. Id me more worried about the trapped moisture in the trailer than anything.

A few years ago we trailered up the other side of Sudbury. In the morning it was -42 and our two sleds and my buddies two sleds were stuck to the floor as well as the seals on the trailer doors

Most of the new ones are vented pretty well. I keep mine in the garage, just use the trailer for transport.

Most white people do that.

After owning an enclosed trailer, I'll never go back to an open trailer and covers ever again.  I love driving in, quick clamp on the skis, lock the parking brake and we're ready to go.

Same, hate getting winter road spray on a sled, shits corrosive as hell.  We transport in a 7x14 enclosed bike trailer, and use it as a garage all winter at camp.  Off season they’re stored in my shed where its clean and dry.  Cant wait to rip the improved Renegade turbo this season. :bc:

I am looking for advise on clutching my 2008 Polaris 700 switchback.

A little back story may help. My 2008 d7 switchback has been stretched to a 144" with the use of slp rail extenders and it has a 2" paddle track on it. I have physically take off the chain case cover and verified the gearing and according to a chart from Polaris, with the stock track setup I should be capable of 93 mph.

Last season the most I could get out of it was 61 mph until I cleaned and added the third Teflon washer to the secondary. After the secondary service I was able to see 70 mph wide open on a packed trail on a lake. My 2007 CFR 600 that my other half drives crushes me lmao.

Also from what I can tell, my primary makes a little noise at idle. So it could definitely stand to have a service done to it. I am hoping that a serviced primary will unlock my missing speed/power.

So I am looking for advise on what to get for my primary clutch, in terms of weights, springs, and anything else I should be buying.

I have never done any clutch work other than the secondary service you guys helped me out with last year.

I looked online and found an epi rebuild kit for $170 but it doesn't include weights or anything. Just the bushings and such. Is that something I should be looking at?

The Western Canada sled show is this weekend and I am hoping to pick up some stuff there as long as it is a decent deal.

I am looking for an all around setup. Top speed isn't a priority. I mainly trail ride/ditch bang with the chance of mountain riding.  The elevation I will be mainly riding at is 2000-2600 ft.

Fire up the sled and let it idle for a minute or two with the clutch off.  Give it a short spray or two of starting fluid at the crank seal and see if she revs up.

I always thought it was a very bad idea to run a sled with the clutch off?

It usually is.  Just keep your dick beaters away from the flipper and it should be fine.  Without the clutch there is no load on that engine which means it will hit max rpm plus in no time.  It’s the “plus” part that will hurt you.  Be prepared to kill it if it starts to run wild.
