The Summer Olympic Games are getting anemic TV ratings. The NBA’s crashing TV ratings have followed the downward trajectory of the NFL’s ratings. Woke sports earn the same public disgust as the accusatory and boring Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. Cable news networks CNN and MSNBC fuelled the story that former President Donald Trump allegedly colluded with Russia. They contextualized (to excuse) the summer looting and rioting of 2020. And they cheered on two impeachments as a prelude to their 24/7 woke drumbeat. Their ratings, too, have now dived. Never has TV been more politicized. Sitcoms, dramas and commercials are designed more to resonate woke messaging than to entertain. So naturally, dismal TV ratings reflect the expected public boredom that ensues when art serves politics. In short, Americans are worn out from elite virtue-signalling and woke performance art from critical race theory capitalists, multimillionaire CEOs, revolving-door Pentagon brass, Malibu celebrities and credentialed elite. The problem is not just that most of America is exhausted from being smeared as racists, or hearing that a wonderful country — the most free, just, equitable, affluent and leisured in civilization’s history — must continually pay penance for its past and present. The public is more tired of projectionist hypocrisy. Those who scream the loudest are usually the most guilty of woke crimes. The woke madness coincides with an epidemic of crises that go largely ignored as a distracted America cannibalizes itself. The border is being breached at a time of the pandemic. Migrants barge in without either COVID-19 testing or vaccinations — during a coronavirus spike that has government officials talking about going door to door to roust out American citizens to get vaccinated. Whiteness is supposedly the cause of America’s problems. But our inner cities are suffering historic levels of violent crime. Couldn’t our critical race theory accusers take time out from their merchandising to address the soaring violence? The Biden administration denies that huge deficit spending and generous cash payments to workers fuelled inflation. But America hasn’t seen anything like the current price hikes and labour shortages in the last 40 years. The military, CIA and FBI have lost the confidence of the public — and not just because of their woke politicking. They are perceived as distracted and ignoring their primary missions of winning wars, catching terrorists before they strike, and offering superb intelligence about our enemies. So, how long does poke-induced immunity last? CDC: “There is still a lot we are learning about COVID-19 pokes and CDC is constantly reviewing evidence and updating guidance. We don’t know how long protection lasts for those who are poked.” ME: Okay … but wait a second. I thought you said the reason I need the poke was because we don’t know how long my natural immunity lasts, but it seems like you’re saying we ALSO don’t know how long poke immunity lasts either. So, how exactly is the poke immunity better than my natural immunity? CDC: … ME: Uh … alright. But, haven’t there been a bunch of studies suggesting that natural immunity could last for years or decades? CDC: Yes. NEWYORKTIMES: “Years, maybe even decades, according to a new study.” ME: Ah. So natural immunity might last longer than poke immunity? CDC: Possibly. You never know. ME: Okay. If I get the poke, does that mean I won’t get sick? BRITAIN: Nope. ME: How does the collective benefit from me getting poked? CDC: Because you could spread the virus to someone else who might get sick and die. ME: Can a poked person spread the virus to someone else? CDC: Yes. ME: So if I get poked, I could still spread the virus to someone else? CDC: Yes. ME: But I thought you just said, the REASON I should get poked was to prevent me spreading the virus? How does that make sense if I can still catch Covid and spread it after getting the poke? CDC: Never mind that. The other thing is, if you stay unpoked, there’s a chance the virus could possibly mutate into a strain that escapes the pokes protection, putting all poked people at risk. ME: So the poke stops the virus from mutating? CDC: No. ME: So it can still mutate in poked people? CDC: Yes. ME: This seems confusing. If the poke doesn’t stop mutations, and it doesn’t stop infections, then how does me getting poked help prevent a more deadly strain from evolving to escape the poke? CDC: You aren’t listening, okay? The bottom line is: as long as you are unpoked, you pose a threat to poked people. ME: But what KIND of threat?? CDC: The threat that they could get a serious case of Covid and possibly die. ME: My brain hurts. Didn’t you JUST say that the poke doesn’t keep people from catching Covid, but prevents a serious case or dying? Now it seems like you’re saying poked people can still easily die from Covid even after they got the poke just by running into an unpoked person! Which is it?? CDC: That’s it, we’re hanging up now. ME: Wait! I just want to make sure I understand all this. So, even if I ALREADY had Covid, I should STILL get poked, because we don’t know how long natural immunity lasts, and we also don’t know how long poke immunity lasts. And I should get the poke to keep a poked person from catching Covid from me, but even if I get the poke, I can give it to the poked person anyways. ….as a safety reminder to my fellow FSers. So, picked up a 6x12 a few weeks back and in the somewhat hasty, distracted moment (had my wife with me) during hook up, I mistakenly put the wrong sleeve in my hitch. I thought for sure I grabbed the 2 5/16 but nope, 2 incher. Anyway, I pulled the trailer on it and locked and chained it down and hit the road. 75 fucking miles and hour down the loaded freeway and I went over a bridge and that mother fucker jumped off and started bouncing around all over the damn place! HOLY SHIT! Thank god the chains did their job and held on to it. It jammed up my bumper something fierce but I was able to pull it over and fix my own idiocy as I cussed and berated myself loudly. If it had been a single axle or, those chains would have let loose on that freeway…….whew!!!!! I’d be in a heap of shit right now So, check your shit. It’s the stuff you just assume you won’t screw up out of years of experience that will clobber you over your melon!!!
