In a Penn State classroom, they were discussing the qualifications to be President of the United States. It is pretty simple. The candidate must be a natural born citizen and at least 35 years of age. One student in the class, however, immediately started in on how unfair was the requirement to be a natural born citizen. Briefly, this requirement prevented many capable individuals from becoming president. The student wrapped up the argument by stating "What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country than one born by C-section?" Yep, and these are the same folks who now vote in our elections.

I am not a fan of the whole Defund the Police thing. But - it does seem like in some cases, it would be helpful if the cops could call on a mental health pro to help when kids are involved. I don't know how it would be managed, or how there would be someone who could be available at a moments notice, but it does seem to me that the police are not trained for this sort of thing. In some cases, if a cop has kids of their own, they may be able to manage these situations a little better. Treating a 9 year old the same as an adult is a recipe for failure. I also agree that a situation like this can be no-win. There may be no way to have a good outcome depending on the issues a kid may have.

I am a realist about my kids. I have one kid that tries hard, is concerned about her grades but has zero common sense or knowledge of what goes on in the world around her and the other could be my twin- gets A's in classes he likes, C's in the ones he doesn't, opinionated and has a mindful of useless knowledge in his melon because his interests are all over the place. Will be interesting to see in 10 years whose more successful. Unfortunately my sons a bit lazy which concerns me, i worked every hour I could from 15 on and took any opportunity i could where he does not. He works enough to pay his expenses and that's about it.
