One of the great advantages of the snake method is you can do it in the rain.

I put it back in the garage like a responsibil adult. I’m going to have to go to a marina for gas. I usually bring 5 gal of gas back with me when I’m up at camp, but forgot. I like a nicely marbled piece and let the meat soak up what it can when cooking but, I generally don’t eat the fat by itself. I’ll mix it in with a couple spoons of dog food and let the dogs have a nice little meal.
Platinum Contributing Member steve from amherst Posted June 2, 2019 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted June 2, 2019 Ya have to have marbling. That's where the flavor comes from.

The large masses of fat won't render during the cook, it will make the meat cook uneven,as the fat absorbs the heat. A small amount should be left, but zams has excessive. If ya like eating the fat go for it! Neal

f7ben
I hate agreeing with Neal but that ain't marbling. It's a huge chunk of tallow and it imparts a bitter flavor when burned
