Bridge Collapse Baltimore Maryland

They are saying there were workers on the bridge along with and unknown amount of vehicles.

Wonder if the ship had some sort of mechanical failure and lost control of steering?

If you have ever steered a boat, while docking it’s pretty obvious.

Loss of power/thrust is catastrophic.

That boat is millions of tons, there is a current as well.

They knew they were boned, and advised everyone they could…saving many lives.

@ArcticCrusher  gotta believe….. :lol:

That is sure to come out as a theory.

The boat may have been carrying Trumps financial bond too, that’s why he couldn’t come up with it.

i found it insane how the media steered towards a terrorist attack..or not.

They weren’t sure it was an alien attack either.

Fucking joke the media has become

top of bridge just before it buckles, looks like charges being set off. weird

I used to work a power plant just on the other side of the bridge. More than likely power lines on the bridge.

You cant drop the anchor if you have no power and the anchor may or may not stop a ship that size when in motion, that river bottom is more than likely a muddy mess and anchor is to hold you in place when stopped.

You absolutely can drop the anchor without power. We are required to have our anchor ready for immediate deployment when manuvering for just such a reason.

I was wondering if the anchor deployment was a cause of the course change into the bridge support.  :dunno:

Neal

It could, yes. Backing down hard, which now seems likely, would also have a profound effect on ships yaw.

no matter what it's a horrible thing for those involved to deal with. couldn't imagine being on there and the road just falling out from under you. or working on it. real sad situation regardless of the cause

And just like that on cue with a conspiracy link and nothing but a question

As for what happened.  Why don't we all just answer for you.  This was obviously caused by a vax side effect.

It was the German who took the needle 200+ times . No question in my mind. Not even a mayday call could change my mind. Damn Germans

If it was a terrorist attack or inside job they were the shittest planners ever. If it truly was they would have it at rush hour.  A ship that big is not easy to get a handle on once it is moving at any kind of speed that’s why they use tugs to get it off the dock. Even if tugs were hooked to once it was under way that much mass would have drug them things into the bridge to

The same people peddling ridiculous conspiracy theories about the ship collision are anti-vax, pro-Putin, and wear red hats :snack:

Sometimes it is a lot harder to drop the anchor without power. Often there is a riding pawl that locks the chain in. In that case it needs to be brought in a touch to release, or with more difficulty and dangerous, needing to be pried out.

I found out I have a college classmate that is in charge of the NTSB investigation of this.

It won't take long to figure out what happened. There are event recorders in the engine room as well as the bridge. The bridge likely has voice recorders also.

Terrible accident.

No its not harder. We are required to have the anchor ready for immediate deployment specificaly for such a case of loss of power or control of the vessel. The anchor would be made ready in all respects for freewheeling.
