Gold Member SeaShark Posted July 28, 2022 Gold Member Share Posted July 28, 2022 Maybe, just maybe if they wrote bills specific to what they are trying to accomplish - they would be passed. But no - they have to have loop holes that allows for spending on other agendas into them - that is why this was not fully supported. I am glad that someone watches that - and it should happen on every bill that is brought to the floor by either party. 6

racer254
Toomey’s opposition to the bill comes from a separate section of the package that “would authorize $400 billion over the next 10 years of existing spending … to be switched from discretionary to mandatory.” “And the reason for that, is to create a $40 billion annual hole in discretionary spending under the cap,” Toomey said. “And allow all kinds of spending on who knows what.” 2
Rod
I’m shocked that a heavily partisan democrat would speak against republicans what’s next? MC making anti trump posts?

Vets should be at the top of the list, not if there is anything left over we will see what happens. Write a straight up Bill with no bullshit!!! Crnr2Crnr
Jon is absolutely right to be outraged at the way we take care of our veterans which at times is utterly appalling. bills of this nature should stand alone, no pork or other spending should be added whatsoever. 'this' is precisely what is wrong with politics and politicians. 4
racer254
So would this money be added to the 2022 Military Budget then? And since it will be mandatory, then it would not need an appropriations bill to fund it each year.

Rod
Same old nonsense of saying a bill is for something nice but also loading it with pork if it were a straight up no nonsense bill to take care of vets it would pass
Crnr2Crnr
"The views of Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., certainly did, however. Johnson voted for the bill in June, but voted against it on Wednesday. He said in a statement that the bill “opens the door for more reckless government spending." Why Republicans, like Johnson, changed their minds a month after passing the legislation remains unclear, and it was confounding and unclear to veterans and advocates who shared their ire in Washington, D.C., on Thursday." https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/blindsided-veterans-erupt-fury-senate-republicans-suddenly-tank-pact-a-rcna40516 FUCK RON JOHNSON Is this retaliation for Manchin?
