Gold Member Kivalo Posted February 17, 2021 Gold Member Share Posted February 17, 2021 Put the battery charger onto my 2006 Polaris Sportsman 700 in my mom's garage today. 45 minutes later it's completely engulfed in flames. My mom's garage for fuck sake! FUCK ME! It could have been a lot worse tho, all things considered I got really really lucky. Gotta love the volunteer fire fighters, thank God for those guys and gals! 1

SSFB
Should have told the firefighters to lift it by the bumper and pose for a pic. Sorry Brad, couldn’t pass that one up.

Mikeadoo
Glad to hear the house wasn't lost, and no serious injuries or damage. But I must admit, when I saw the title to the post I knew it had something to do with a polaris Edited February 17, 2021 by Mikeadoo

A05GSHO
Sorry to see that happened, your so lucky the whole place didn't go up. I have my boat, ATV, John Deere, truck, and sled in my Mom's garage up north all on a battery tender and my boat on a dual bank charger built in to the bow. I've always worried a bit about something like that happening up there. What kind of charger were you using?
XCR1250
Any cause given? I have 4 on mini trickle chargers during the off warm season, IN MY BASEMENT, done it for 31 years no problems, YET!!
Fireball 440
I don't think the battery charger caused the fire unless it was sitting on the front rack.
