I had the 617cc, but I had twin Deckers, K+Ns, a whole bunch of studs and clutch parts on it. Ran like a scalded cat. 583 in that one. There was a lake close by a guy would carve out an oval track with his plow and we’d go racing lol. Lots of duct tape and busted up wind shields. Miss those days. I’ve kind of forgotten, I usually can name the year just by the graphics. They did corner on rails for sure. I've been running studs since '01 and have never had a stud come loose. Woodys Stainless. In a bunch of the doubles, one stud is backed way off while the other is still tight. Torque to 20-22 ft lbs. 12-15 like called for isn’t enough, IMO. I doubt these were even torqued to the minimum. Don’t have to worry about cutting the track so much with double backers either. Yup, it,s a great feeling to not be brand loyal, to anything, and that includes cars, trucks, sleds and tractors. They are all overpriced junk. Pick your poison, and if it doesn,t work for you, pick again. How did that helix ever get thru quality control ? Kinda sad stuff like that gets passed the scrap pile. I don’t mind brand loyalty at all. If a brand has been good to you and represents what you like/want. Stick with it! What I find weird is those that stick with a. brand that seemingly gives them nothing but headaches. To me, It’s like those that stay in shitty marriages or stay in their shitty jobs they constantly complain about. Just easier to stay miserable than make a change I guess. Or, misery just makes them happy. Beats the fuck outa me.

Honeymoon stage with poo now so we will see what happens.

Had an issue with Sabres and their square aluminum angled backers on my '01. After I had to replace the track, I switched to Fast Trac studs on a recommendation from an old riding buddy. Been using them ever since. Both of these have almost 4K miles on them. Only thing I do different is I go with a bigger nylock than what they sell with them. Can get these from Hillman on eBay or thru Fastenal for like $8 for 50.

But, the ones on my SX have me sold now but, a bit tough tougher to deal with. Especially bent ones.

Never had a bent, broken or pull thru since I switched to Fact Trac studs.

irv
I changed all my square backers out and replaced with round aluminum ones on my Vector. When I studded the XLT, I also used round backers, but used plastic ones that came with the studs. Not a loose one yet.
