Man, that thing was such an abortion with the funky airbox/clutchguard thing and the crazy vibrations.  I did have a buddy with a 2006 though that would simply destroy everything that went up against it at the lake.  No idea what he all did to it.  I know it wasn't stock, but it looked and sounded stock.  Fastest sled I've ever ridden.

They had a 1050 bore kit for it that helped immensely with vibration. You could also get a ram air style airbox for it so you could shit can the belt guard airbox, but you had to delete the front heat exchanger. Not a big deal since it was a shit design anyway.

Too bad they didn't do a better design job on that motor and counterbalance it. Thing could've been a torque monster.

Been awhile, but I thought the biggest issue with the Fusion was the driveshaft location/ placement.  That was unfix able.

Couldn't ride it for more than 10 minutes at a time. Fucking shook like an epileptic....

In 05 my brother and 2 buddies all bought Fusion 900s.  I bought an RX1ER, which was my first 4 stroke sled.  Thing destroyed those  Fusions and ran like a swiss watch.  There were about 15 recalls on those paint shakers, and it still left one buddy high and dry day one of a 5 day saddlebag in Quebec.  The following year we all bought Apex GTs.  Eff those things.

I had an 05 RX1 with Walker Evans shocks and a 136 Edge skid. Fast smooth sled, only 136 sled I've ever owned that would hit triple digits.

Wrong!

I guess all the 800 polaris sleds that come into my shop (I specialize in Doos) with blown motors at less than 2K miles just happen to be a coincidence.  And all the 800 poos listed for sale at 2,000ish miles on the chassis with only a couple hundred on a new top end is also a co-ink-ie-dink???  :dunno:

Easily 3 to 1 ratio blown 800CFI vs 800R/800ETEC at my shop at that mileage, even if you include the 2007 800R skidoo fuck up which still made it to the same mileage before crank failure.

Just my personal experience.

Sad thing is, they still can't build a motor over 600cc that will consistently last more than 2500 miles....  :hdchr:

Not to mention right after the Fusion, Poo comes out with that pile of fuck 800 CFI and the FST Turbo, good lord did Poo shit the bed bad during that period.

Yeah I keep hearing that but my 2018 800 has been flawless for almost 5000 miles and runs like a raped ape. And one of my riding buddies is a service manager for a dealer network in wisconsin. The 800's and the 850's have been pretty solid. There were some manufacturing issues with the 2019 850's but he said if there was an issue polaris shipped out a crate engine asap and gave them an extra year of warranty and even some poo cash for some bling. But even despite that he said there hasnt been a whole lot of problems with the 850's.

Skidoo makes some good engines, I have always been a fan of the etecs (I was told mine was going to blow up several times and its still running sweet with almost 10k on the clock) but the chassis just isnt as good as the axys. And the xs skidoos dont even come close.

Hey it's only 10 years of big bore failure, but their 600's have been solid since 1999.
