Sled prices are way out of line

Recommended Posts

I bought a new 600 non rer rev back in 03 and IIRC it was around $8600 before tax

so I went and priced the most similar sled I could. This is a 600 EFI engine. Doesn’t say if it has reverse or not but I’m not even sure if that’s an option anymore

this doesn’t include delivery so add $500-$600?

so gaining EFI and RER for the extra money, plus 22 years

Yes electric start and RER are standard, great little engine

Oh yeah electric start too

for $8600 I didn’t have that or reverse or the longer track

I really don’t read anything you post

I just assume it’s really stupid cause there’s a 99% chance it is

I paid 11,199 in 2022.  Great sled for beginners.

That’s mxz200 money now 6,400 out the door here for them that seems reasonable

Built up a 2025 XCR 650 136 on Polaris's site for $18,200 and change, without many accessories.

By the time you pay dealer fees, registration, tax, etc, that is a $20k 600 class sled.

Paid $5400 for a leftover 92 Wildcat in the fall of 92.  Today's dollars that's about $11,900.  A new 93 Wildcat or Mach 1 was around $7000-$7200 msrp and I couldn't get any discount.  Those in today's dollars would be around $15,800.   MSRP on new mid range 850's are in the $16-18k range.  45 more hp, better injection systems, far greater suspension, longer track, better gauges.

Now take in the extra cost to mfg some of today's 4 strokes as comparison to older 2 strokes.

I can find leftover 23 and 24 Poo 850's in the $13K range that are 100x's the sled.

I think people are a bunch of whiney cry babies today.  Sled prices are high....but not out of line with what they've been for a long, long time.
