Trail riders never even think about track HP

So nobody buys clutch kits for trail riding? News to me. That is exactly thinking about track hp.

NSR kits also save you from wolves and polar bears.

Good point , Cat has proven to have some of the worst clutching in the industry so may be some gains to be made there. Maybe even control all 123 hp

Bottom line,, Cat has proven they can't build competitive engines inhouse. Their 800 and now new 600 both came in under the industry standards. Poo made this much HP almost 20yrs ago. Anything less than high 120's is a flop.130 should have been the goal. So it failed being super light even with belt drive and now it's low on HP too.

How Cat guys can spin this into a win is beyond me. It's not.

Poo made this much power for all 1100 miles of it's lifespan or did it drop off towards the end ?

The 600 ves was one of the most dependable sled engines ever built. Rock solid. Very similar hp to this new whiz bang cat too.

Why does anyone think a 600 will make any more power especially with emissions standards now in effect? There's only so much air it can push through, especially with a single pipe.

800's managed to just fine why can't a 6 make some gains too?

Poo 800 carb 135 hp

Poo 800 cfi.    145 hp

Poo 800 ho.     155 hp

Poo 600 carb.  122hp

Catalyst 600.    123 hp

You do the math.:news:

cant help but wonder if the cost of these sleds/engines now a days, if there isn't more of a conservative approach toward the engine side of it due to cutting back on warrenty claims?  It sounds like Textron would be maybe hardpressed to survive a huge payout issue in the state they're currently in.

TQ is maxxed out for the cc and pump gas, so the only way they really can get more hp out of a 600 is to rev it higher. But seems Like they don’t want to go over the 8000 range

The old school Arctic Cat would have put out a 600 turbo making more hp than the 650 does on 87oct if that's what it would have taken.

Overweight and underpowered isn't going to be the life raft they needed,,,it's a boat anchor.

They need to start building good clutches again for that.

The newer emission standards are killing 2 cycle across the board..That's an undeniable shitty fact.. Although lubricant technologies have advanced, it can not keep a 2 cycle reliable that lean on oil

My 2003 F7 made just over 140. The real speed for the new catalyst is in the chassis layout. In a year or two poo and doo will have copies.

Most stock modern 800s have trouble with the old F7 on the lake.

Maybe in 2000’ plus. Any of the new 800s will lay a dirty gape on good running f7s for quite a ways out.
