shall we discuss EV subsidies?

@Mainecat didn't want to in the other thread about diesel fuel this week?

or, how about farm subsidies?

we socialize way more shit than most people care to discuss but those getting the subsidies rarely chime in.

It doesn't matter what your choice of energy is, in today's world, NONE of them can exist without oil.  PERIOD.  Wind, solar, EV's, are all 100% dependent on oil to get those products to market.  If you deny that, you are a fool.

Hell yeah, it was always at all the pumps around by me.  Some one was also going around removing them.  It wasn't only the owners of the pumps either.

can't wait to see the new oil-less blacktop they come up with

Google says approximately 7 gallons of oil to make a single tire.

What really does suck about this is snowmobile clubs were struggling with diesel fuel prices last year grooming.

Yeah, we addressed that in our first meeting this year - IF we get groomable snow, our budget needs to be ready for it.  Last couple years have been pretty low hours in the groomer, so we do have some left over, but a good year and we will blow through that $$ pretty quickly...

we subsidize Wall Street as well, to the tune of trillions

but... hey, invest all your money in a 401k or IRA and don't worry about your social security... we've got your back!

How is it involved in renewables?  The gov doesn’t build renewables.  That is all private business that build them.

New Federal Tax Credits under the Inflation Reduction Act

  • Federal tax credit for EVs will remain at $7,500
    • Timeline to qualify is extended a decade from January 2023 to December 2032
  • Tax credit cap for automakers after they hit 200,000 EVs sold is eliminated, making GM, Tesla and Toyota once again eligible
  • The language in the bill indicates that the tax credit could be implemented at the point of sale instead of on taxes at the end of the fiscal year
    • That means you can get your credit up front at the dealer, but these terms may not kick in until 2024
    • In order to get the full credit, the EV must be assembled in North America and…
    • The majority of battery components need to come from North America and…
    • A certain percentage of “critical minerals” must come form North America or countries with free trade agreements with the US
  • New federal tax credit of $4,000 for used EVs priced below $25k
    • Subject to other requirements like lower annual income (see below)
  • Revised credit applies to BEV cars with an MSRP below $55k
  • Also includes zero-emission vans, SUVs, and trucks with MSRPs up to $80,000
  • New credit also expands to commercial fleet customers
    • Includes separate qualifications and limits
  • The federal EV tax credit will be available to individuals reporting adjusted gross incomes of $150,000 or less, or $300,000 for joint filers
  • The new credit will also continue to apply to Plug-in Hybrid EVs (PHEVs) as long as they meet the same requirements outlined above and are equipped with a battery over 7 kWh.

I still believe the tax credit is non refundable like it always has so it’s just letting people and business keep more of their own money which I believe you agree with if I’m not mistaken.

That would be nice if the fuel for grooming snowmobile trails lived off of the government's tit.  But it doesn't.  Probably a government supplement for the solar nut cases during the non daylights savings time of the year.

Stops them from tapping into the neighbors outside outlets to plug into their EV.

Many snowmobile clubs are tax exempt…. Like churches and other freeloading corporations with tax exempt status and shit.   Taking money in without having to pay tax is like the 53% of freeloading Americans that pay no tax.  Out west it’s mostly the governments that do grooming through the use of tax dollars even from those that don’t use the trails.

Pay no taxes but receive no supplements.

Grooming comes from snowmobile registration.  Renewable supplements comes from tax payers.

Do you even own a snowmobile or just troll a snowmobile site.  In your case its option 2....Troll

Bullshit.  Clubs and groomers receive lots of legislative grants and funding from sources outside clubs.  They get all this money tax free.  Just like a church
