I bought mine new midwinter my birthday back then and put like 1500 miles on it in like a month and a 1/2. It was really fast and reliable but never could get it turn like a trail sled, so I sold it and got one of those little kid Sno pros.

That's about it. I am running some of your clutching set up I found on HCS.

Oh hi Captain Retardo!

Where you been? Hiding?

DO NOT adjust your 858 servo motor bracket without a cat scan tool to run the motor through. When you bend the tab it’ll throw the cable adjustment off and the motors stays running at each end of the throw. It’ll burn up the servo motor.

A little context would probably help.

We had one that the servo motor was burnt up on today. We looked and there was plier marks on the bracket. We adjusted a few that were having binding issues and found when adjusting them and testing them. There’s one very small sweet spot where they’ll run through fine with no binding and are within cable adjustment.

Found 2 like this this morning.

You can check them at home without the tool. A good one has 20.25mm between the back of the cable end and the threaded end of the cable sheathing when fully open. We just held that and the exhaust valves open then adjusted the one that was way off to the cable end.

I’d venture to say this is more of an issue than the bent bracket.

wrong thread...

Check the end caps on your 2024s. Mine were loose as a goose and probably would have come off this season and stabbed a track. Also check all the skid bolts I had a few loose ones. Glad I pulled my skid for the suspension upgrades.

I think this is a bigger deal than riders realize.

My dealer has found quite a few.  I was in to pick up the sled and he asked if I had time to wait while they checked mine.  They were off by about 1/4".  I'm not sure how much that would have affected operation.  Some of their early riding customers came back with sleds that ran terrible.  Their valves were much further out of alignment.   It seems to be pretty random which sled is or isn't out of alignnment.

The instructions mention that the servo code only show up after three failed servo cycles.  I doubt many are far enough out of whack to stop servo function.

The first one we found it on did not have a code, but it did eat up a servo motor. The weirdest part about it is it would run through fine on the scanner but would open the valves only about 1/10th of the time on the stand. Tom’s sled never ran over 6500rpms at all and his were off the exact same amount as the other one we found

Put just over 100 miles on a completely revamped suspension and was surprised how bad the stock calibrations actually are on the ifp. It has entirely to much rebound in that constantly jars the rider. Mine rides smoother on small chop even at slow speeds than when it was stock. You can really haul ass on this sled and beat it hard. The ohlins and springs got ride of the pogo stick ride, got rid of the body roll, greatly improved the handling. you can corner now at speed in chop, and controls the annoying wheelie it would do when you got on the throttle hard.

858 ride on some pretty boring looking trails.  This is why you take Internet talk with grain of salt.  He was saying how planted it was and skis work so good on these turns that aren't even turns, all super high speed stuff with no turning.  I would have a four stroke turbo for those trails and a windshield.  Totally different than anything I ride.

I don’t know, I know they do have actual meaningful adjustments unlike the regular QS3s

I don't know why you'd ride those trails with that windshield.  Even if you dress so much to not get cold getting that blasted with wind all day will take a toll.

idk, listening briefly... they just said the SP is stiff and needs revalving?  it has significantly lighter springs compared to the RXC and there's five settings... so the commentary seemed unusual.

c'mon @Not greg b... post the pics of the upgrade.  ;)

I installed that track from day 1 on my 858. Definitely very impressed so far (300 miles on the sled) and I've always used traditional push through style studs on all my sleds.

I have an AC5S front track shock on the bench right now, waiting to replace the basic front skid shock that came on my ATAC. It doesn't seem overly stiff to me and as Palu said, the 5 adjustments are very distinct.

There are some grumblings about the sno pro ride quality though so I suspect the rear track shock may be the culprit if true.
