I didn’t see this but I went down and looked at one a little while ago. I was imagining the old style with the 90° tube and that was kinking but obviously a complete different design. The shit tab on the actuator bending and making the cable end bind makes sense. I don’t think a new cable is needed but maybe a little gusset on the cable/actuator bracket.

Of course it will. It creates a polar vortex around Uranus as it moves through the air, reducing the core temperature

We had them on the 7000s. The cooling fan and radiator was more effective

It's weird that these people talk about the lay down motor like it's a new thing.  Cats been doing it to every two stroke since 2002

Knew I couldn't be the only one that missed the Wilwoods. Excellent modulation, great power, distinct sound. The Hayes have power and nothing else. Oh and they are a complete PIA to bleed on the Procross.

Had to revive this thread after the latest Shoptalk Podcast episode. They are prepping an F7 for the pine lake ice race. Of course they raved about the speed, but also- the wilwood brake! :lolz:

F7 Talk begins around 13:00, brake talk around 14:00.

opinions are like assholes...

but imho most of the change in feel/modulation is from the fact that they are on the driveshaft now, instead of on the jackshaft

I agree that is a huge factor. That said, I've ridden Axys/Matryx sleds with the jackshaft mounted Hayes and I still didn't think they were as good :dunno:

if you break a chain (or belt now) you can still stop the sled if it's mounted on the driveshaft, that and it's putting the weight lower on the mass.  found the brake on the PC RXC to be very good.

but, I like the old school Wilwood and just remembered I forgot to order a set of the new high perf pads to try.

maybe Santa will put a set under the tree?

I prefer the jackshaft brake.  The jackshaft spins more than 2x the speed of track shaft and I think that high speed helps with modulation and precision.

When procross first came out people bitched about the brakes.  I and see why. My rr brakes were very good. My 7000s weren’t. The rr brakes were way better than the rest of line and had different part numbers. The catalyst has that good feel the wilwood did. But I miss that sound of them on the older sleds

you know what would go well with the new Ohlins?

Catalyst RXC brakes pads and the rotor.  You can hear and feel it.

I agree.  The sound really helps a lot to help know what's going on

No one is mentioning the diamond drive brakes.

Mine still had the wilwood but I don’t remember it being much different. I did t have that sled that long as it was like trying to drive a dump truck through the woods. Those old crossfires did not handle very good.

I bought mine new midwinter my birthday back then and put like 1500 miles on it in like a month and a 1/2. It was really fast and reliable but never could get it turn like a trail sled, so I sold it and got one of those little kid Sno pros.
