how much actual chassis was changed? IDK the RXC looks good though, I dig it.  edit: 137" ?  hmmmm...

pile on boys, this isn't the brand specific safe space... and don't forget to in on one.

The weak link in the whole sled is the front arm and is key on any modern rider forward sled. The spring and shock is massive on the ohlins compared to the piss any stock

I have an AC5S front track shock on the bench right now, waiting to replace the basic front skid shock that came on my ATAC. It doesn't seem overly stiff to me and as Palu said, the 5 adjustments are very distinct.

There are some grumblings about the sno pro ride quality though so I suspect the rear track shock may be the culprit if true.

Most likely people putting them on 4 and 5 that ride like Jim and then complaining. I have talked to a few people who normally buy RRs that got sno pros and they love them so far.

I installed that track from day 1 on my 858. Definitely very impressed so far (300 miles on the sled) and I've always used traditional push through style studs on all my sleds.

look forward to hearing more about it... hope they come out with some 2.52P's but am doubtful as it seems most shit is 2.86 now.   for 'trail' riding thusfar I'm liking what I tried, less rotating mass alone was enough for me to give one a whirl... and you literally couldn't buy 128" Cobra's at the time unless you were getting them from Polaris.   9_9

I think the catalyst all have the same brakes un like the procross.

858 ride on some pretty boring looking trails.  This is why you take Internet talk with grain of salt.  He was saying how planted it was and skis work so good on these turns that aren't even turns, all super high speed stuff with no turning.  I would have a four stroke turbo for those trails and a windshield.  Totally different than anything I ride.

Had this playing in the background for awhile. He's clearly impressed with the sled (and so am I!). He does a really good job of qualifying his opinions and not preaching. I vehemently disagree with the stock ski praise...to his credit I do think the R-XC version comes with a single carbide runner vs the std staggered 4" which likely helps...but what I really think is showing here is the new front suspension on the Catalyst really is that good. From cornering precision, to bump steer, steering effort, etc. It just works better than the Procross IMO. But that ski is a typical Cat generic "good enough" stock equipment and would certainly be outmatched in basically any scenario by the Camso Ice Arrowhead 130 currently installed on my 858.

Secondary clutch for sure needs attention as the Textron scrooges felt a one size ( a big and steep size!) fits all approach was best.

Light, rigid, predictable, yet super fun. I don't regret the purchase whatsoever. The Cat engineers being strangled by Textron Corporate still managed to put out a phenomenal product :bc:

Great to hear 👍🏻

RXC has a different rotor and pads

RXC uses the same rotor as Procross RR sleds.  The Catalyst RXC is delivered with pads that are the better version used on earlier race sleds.

Many of the brake components are interchangeable with Procross.

no, I haven't looked for or found the Hayes part # yet

the big $ brake rotor is on the SX sled... but for trail riding it might be a bit overkill.  the SX and RXC use the same pads.

the SP vs RXC stiffness commentary starts around 37 min mark on the vid MnStang posted.

Ahhh. Yeah the old rr and the rxc always used a different brake from the rest of the line up and there was a big difference in performance over the standard one.

So I got my Catalyst skid out and compared the IFP front track shock that came on my ATAC sled to the AC5S I'm replacing it with. There is no obvious stiffness difference between them when the AC5S is in position 3, and the AC5S feels softer in 1 and 2. I came to this conclusion unscientifically by simply cycling them against the floor with one in each hand...they seem most comparable at setting 3.

Both shocks needed about 50-60 lbs of force to get them moving. I measured this a basic bathroom scale.

Same thing was happening to this one. The piece of shit was bogging out on the climbs. If only Textron hadn’t fired 2/3rds of the engineering department, maybe they could’ve offered a factory reflash.

He needs to do a proper belt brake in with it. lol. This about 400 miles stock on the 600 from last year.

I pulled an 858 secondary yesterday on a kids sled that rides hard. Looked exactly the same. I almost think the helix would work good if it was a .36 or so compound instead of a straight 50/50 progressive. I have some ideas up my sleeve to try on it.

It has to be in the belt drive. I moved the offset around and no improvement.

It's 100% the rider, textron built sleds are way better than the old school ac, mnstang says so

You’re slacking. It was up a while ago. I bet it’s similar to the other 2 that have gone down based on how he’s moving that clutch back and forth.

Bwahahaha! What a fucking retard! What’s next Krom, going to post some videos about the “brand new” MY12 Pro-Cross sled?

Out riding now. The local weather has been saying a few inches over the next few days for like a week now. The snowmobile sites are saying like 3 feet now. Someone is full of shit and I think it’s the snowmobile clubs.
