1 Dead in Miami-Area Condo Collapse

Pretty lax safety standards/BLDG codes I would assume?

Regardless, there will be a lot of finger pointing going on until this is straightened out.

Courts are going to have a field day with this one. With all the history of problems dating back a long ways, many different people and departments are going to be dragged into it.

That is fucked.

It does seem like the foundation was washed out, Not a big fan of pillars, to hold up that much weight from above, but as long as the foundation is good, no problem.

Hope they didn't cheap out and build footings only under the pillars. A better builder would build a full, reinforced footing across the entire front of the building, spreading the reinforced load across hundreds of feet.

Sucks anyway. Investigate to the fullest what made this possible.

It is Florida whole fucking place is a bog . And you know they did not run footing along the whole thing to bedrock they drove piling down and poured footing over them at best in the 80s . This has been sinking for some time

The leaning tower of Pisa was built 848 years ago and it’s still standing.  Wasn’t built by Floridians though.

And had bedrock under it . All of Florida has the h20 table less than 10 feet under your feet .

And more like 682 yrs ago

Prob a mile or so . FL is swamp and that place was litteraly built on a swamp  filled over with fill . You know like most every place in FL.

Even high ground in FL is not sold the h20 flowes freely under the whole state . What bedrock is in FL is limestone and that stuff in not real stone it degrades with water and well again the water table is everyplace in FL.  Henc why they get so many sink holes every yr
