ActionfigureJoe
10 year old macbook pro is running again. The trackpad formed a dead spot after some coffee spillage. Bought a "preowned" pad for $10 off eBay. Just installed it. It lives again. What a fucking workhorse. I still do all my photo processing and printing with this bitch.

What are you using for photo processing? Lightroom? My old i5 PC did OK with PS and LR, but the newer i7 is so much faster. The new software takes a lot more processing power. Sometimes it lags a bit when processing a large raw file. jpeg is is a snap. I only use it for power point/keynote/or photos. I don't keep anything on the drive other than Apps and a few misc items. It really does everything that I need it to do. I've become rather picky about my keeper photos. Last weekend I photographed some so called haunted places around Wisconsin. Asylums, hotels, etc. Of the 600 some pics, I kept 28.

Lots of reasons I think...especially if it's just for internet. I bought a 2-pack of old dells from ebay for $200 loaded with WIN 10. Keep one in the garage and have a spare when I either break it or it just shits out. Neither battery is worth a shit though. But, good for quick reference and part ordering shit. I do have a nice and newer set up for trading (and porn). I don't fuck around with poor perfoming equipment when it comes to those two items. 15 minutes ago, ckf said: I think Apple still sells reconditioned 5 or 6 year old laptops. Must be an Apple thing Getting ready to buy my daughter a new laptop. It's astonishing how much new Macbooks are! Went to my IT goober and he actually said she's better off with a 2-3 year old reconed MacBook than a new Windows type set up. I was suprised. They are still $800. Wow. I'm gonna buy one and write a check and send it snail mail. Fuck the seller up!

02sled
I'll never have an Apple product again. They push out updates whenever they feel like and you haven't any control over if and when it gets applied. I've had two screwed updates from Apple in less than two years for the iPad and both times were a pain. They pushed an update that resulted in the iPad not charging unless the unit was connected to the charger and powered down in that order. Support said connect the iPad to a laptop and update it again from iTunes. Sorry... they realized the problem after the push. I didn't have that as an option so they said pop into an Apple store and they can take care of you with an update in a few minutes. Go to the store... do you have an appointment. No they said to pop in. It's about a 2.5 to 3 hour wait. The manager takes care of it and the solution resulted in everything I had put on it being lost. Guess what... they pushed out yet another update some months later and the same screwed up charging problem occurs. Try and install print drivers on an Apple product. You can find drivers for virtually every printer on the planet for Windows. For Apple it has to be AirPrint compatible. Guess what. Not all printers are. There's a reason business uses Windows. My niece went to university and we got her a new high end laptop. She was told by her professor nobody used Windows in business anymore and she should go out and get a Mac since they would take over the business world completely before she graduated.... still waiting for that to happen. You can control the download of all Apple updates, be it iPad, iPhone, or a Mac. Apple did fuck up with iOS 11. They still haven’t got it right. I always wait for consumer feedback before going ahead with an update.

Make sure you’re not in low power mode or the automatic update toggle will be blank.
