Mainecat
Here ya go……. WASHINGTON ― President Joe Biden vowed to take immediate action to "shut down" the U.S.-Mexico border if Congress approves a proposal under negotiation in the Senate as he urged lawmakers to pass a bipartisan bill "if they're serious about the border crisis." Biden, in a statement released Friday night, said what's being negotiated in the Senate would be "the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border we’ve ever had in our country." He said the proposal would include new presidential authority to "shut down the border when it becomes overwhelmed." "And if given that authority, I would use it the day I sign the bill into law," Biden said. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/01/27/president-biden-seeks-power-to-shut-down-border-in-bipartisan-deal/72379331007/

ActionfigureJoe
He doesn’t have a choice. Brandon Johnson in Chicago has refused to open more shelters despite urging from the Illinois governor. That means migrants will start being sheltered in white, liberal suburbia. What a fucking mess Biden created. All to please the progressives in his party.

Must not be a big deal , the senile corrupt turnip running this shithole let millions invade this country illegally for the last 3 years. I’m sure Kamala was about to fix it. Instead it took repubs cutting off the supply of filthy corrupt money to Ukraine to get it done

Really....Nixon and Reagan even closed the ports of entry both ways without the help of congress. The executive branch has massive authority when it comes to the border. Biden opened them up all on his own redefining what would pass as a refugee. If the president can't do anything at the border why did Biden reverse everything Trump did hours after taking office you fucking moron. By all means fuck head....keep ignoring the facts. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/01/20/joe-biden-trump-immigration/ Joe Biden to pause border wall construction, issue protections for DACA recipients and roll back other Trump immigration policies The incoming president also plans to send a comprehensive immigration reform plan to Congress after he takes office. Cárdenas for The Texas Tribune/ProPublica On the same afternoon he’s sworn in as the nation’s 46th president, Joe Biden will take executive actions that will undo several of former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, his transition team announced Wednesday. The list of orders includes reissuing protections established under the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, halting further construction of a border barrier and rolling back interior immigration enforcement priorities put in place by the previous administration. The actions come the same day Biden will reportedly send to Congress a comprehensive immigration bill that, if passed, could provide a legal path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, including more than 1.7 million in Texas. “These actions are bold, begin the work of following through on President-elect Biden’s promises to the American people, and, importantly, fall within the constitutional role for the president,” the transition team said of the executive orders, which also include actions addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, eviction moratoriums, student loan debt and the environment. Platinum Contributing Member steve from amherst Posted January 28 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted January 28 The White House has agreed to new limits on asylum at the border, including the creation of an expulsion power that would allow migrants who cross the U.S.-Mexico border illegally to be rapidly returned to Mexico if migrant encounters surpassed 4,000 per day The U.S. would be required to allow at least 1,400 migrants per day to approach legal crossings to claim asylum if the expulsions were in effect, the source added. yeah , great plan. No wonder no one is in a hurry to say yeh 1
